VOLUNTEERING

Get Involved — Volunteer!

When adults volunteer, all students benefit! There are many opportunities for parents and community members to get involved!  Your help is needed!

If you are interested in volunteering to help lead an in-person event or in one of these particular roles, email president@lbpta.org and we can provide additional information. We'd love to have more people be involved at whatever level you can and we promise it will be FUN!
  • Odyssey of the Mind Coordinator - year-round
  • Family Arts & Craft Night Team - Spring
  • Staff Appreciation Committee (help organize staff appreciation events & staff appreciation week in May) - year-round
  • Restaurant Fundraiser Lead - year-round
  • Rising Kindergarten playdate coordinator - spring/summer
  • Edukit coordinator - late spring (virtual) + one day 2 weeks before school starts at the school to organize and assure all kits ordered have been delivered

There are also one-time opportunities to volunteer throughout the year such as bringing food for teacher/staff appreciation events, serving as a room parent and other volunteer shifts at PTA events. Look out for emails with sign ups for these volunteer opportunities.

Anyone interested in volunteering in any role in-person during the school year needs to complete the APS volunteer application form. Your approval is valid for two years. Questions? Email Karen Woolley at karen.woolley@apsva.us.

Seeking Tax Preparer

Seeking someone who can help the PTA prepare our IRS 990 form. This is a paid position. Ideally this would be a long-term contracted position, but open to one-year commitment. Please send any leads/inquiries to president@lbpta.org and treasurer@lbpta.org

ACTL Representative Needed

There is an opportunity to have a Long Branch representative on the Advisory Council for Teaching & Learning (ACTL) for 2023-24 who will share information, get feedback, and be part of a dialogue about bigger-picture topics within APS. A few areas recently focused on are structured literacy, math education, and student well-being and overall academic progress.

This is a great opportunity for engagement at a larger level within APS for someone who is interested in connecting the dots between what is happening within Long Branch and what is happening across the system. The meetings are usually held from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. on the first Wednesday of each month in the Syphax building.

Email president@lbpta.org if interested.
