Mark your calendars for a fun-filled tour around the world!
This is a great opportunity for children to showcase their heritage, or that of a country of interest to them.
How to participate:
- Sign up using this link to let us know which country you will be representing.
- Prepare a table display like the examples given below. You can add a trifold poster, a flag, and items from the country you are representing. You can also prepare a small craft for the children to participate in.
- There will also be an opportunity to sample international cuisine.
- If you would like to bring food for the tasting potluck, please use this link to sign up.
- Finally, children are welcome to prepare a short cultural performance (under 10 minutes).

Long Branch PTA will be celebrating teacher/staff appreciation week. Look for volunteer opportunities closer to the date.
june 10 | Book swap | during school hours
Book Swap! Mark your calendars! The PTA will be hosting a Book Swap for students, teachers, and stuff on Monday, June 10. If you have any books (pre-K to adult) to donate for the event, please drop them off at the Long Branch office (preferable!) NO EARLIER THAN June 3 (the week before the Book Swap). There are storage issues if books are dropped off earlier than June 3. Please only donate new or gently used books that are suitable for our event (no religious books please). If you’d like to volunteer to help, look for a sign up closer to the date.

Join us for a playdate on the Long Branch playground/blacktop. Bring a picnic and stay to play. Ice cream provided by the PTA.

october 10 - 13 | book fair
R.E.A.D. will be hosting the book fair for Long Branch. Check out more details online. Volunteer support is needed for the week - sign up here.
Classes will visit on Tuesday and Wednesday to create wish lists. Shopping will occur on Thursday and Friday during the school day (book fair closes at 11 a.m. on Friday).
Family Night will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 11 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m.
Friday, OCT. 20 | teacher/staff luncheon
The PTA is hosting a lunch for teachers and staff on Friday, Oct. 20 during parent-teacher conferences. Sign up if you can bring a salad, water, dessert, flowers, paper goods or help with set up/clean up. Thank you!
Saturday, Oct. 28 | Mcm kids fun run - Long branch team (register by Oct. 2)
Come join the Long Branch team at the Marine Corps Marathon- Kids Run for a fun run and an opportunity to win $1,000 for our school PE department.
Children ages 5-12 will participate in the one-mile fun run. Pre - and post-event hospitality, activities, entertainment, games and mascots make this an unforgettable event. In addition, the top five schools with the most registered student participants will be honored with the Healthy School Award that includes a $1,000 monetary donation to the school's PE department.
When: Saturday, October 28, 2023, at 9:20am (Wave 1- Red)
Where: North Pentagon Parking Lot
Cost: $15 per child. Every child will receive a medal, T-shirt, and full access to the health festival. Financial aid is available for those that qualify through the PTA; email Patty Martinez (Patricia.Martinez@apsva.us) to request funding.

Our fall fundraiser is designed to be painless for you! Simply donate online. Funding will support the PTA activities including providing stipends for our teachers for out-of-pocket school supplies, funding field trips for all grades, free community building events like Science/STEM night and more. FRIDAY, DEC. 15 | HOLIDAY GIVING OPPORTUNITIES DEADLINE
We have a few giving opportunities for you this holiday season:

LB Families in Need: Each year, our school community comes together to support our most vulnerable families during the holiday season. Your support for these efforts are needed this year more than ever! Please consider donating through this link by Dec. 15.

Non-classroom teachers and staff: Please consider contributing to a holiday fund for our crossing guards, cafeteria staff, custodians, administrative assistants, librarians, art teachers, physical education teachers, etc. The funds will be split to provide gift cards to approximately 70 non-classroom staff members. Please make donations by Dec. 15 so we have time to purchase gift cards. *Note: room parents will be in touch about collecting for classroom teachers and Kindergarten aides.

Extended Day: A separate email will be sent to families with students in extended day to offer the opportunity to give to the Extended Day employees. (If you did not receive it by Dec. 4, email president@lbpta.org.)

The PTA is hosting a Long Branch STEM Night.
When: Feb. 1 from 6-7:30PM
Where: School Gym + Cafeteria.
Enjoy a night of interactive stations with your child. This event will engage families together in fun STEM experiences. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult.
All attendees can enjoy pizza as part of the event.
We need volunteers to help with pizza during the event. Please sign up if you can.
Wednesday, feb. 21 | 5 - 8 pm | old dominion pizza fundraiser
Order from Old Dominion Pizza on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 5 - 8 p.m. and the PTA will receive 10% of the sales. Orders can be in store or delivery. No code needed so tell your friends to take the night off cooking, enjoy pizza and support the Long Branch PTA!

Friday, March 8 | family Arts & Crafts night | 6 - 7:30 pm
Join us for an evening of family arts and crafts. We will have opportunities for community service projects as well as fun projects to bring home. Let us take care of supplies and clean up while your family enjoys time to connect and unwind!
Students must be accompanied by an adult. While you don't have to RSVP to attend, it would greatly help us better plan for the event if you could let us know if you and your family are planning to come. Please RSVP here.
Donations needed: We are looking for donations of scrap fabric, yarn, buttons, crayons (can be used!), stickers, and thin cardboard (clean cereal boxes, packaged snack boxes, seltzer boxes, etc.). Please drop off in the Long Branch Main office labeled for family arts night. Thank you!
