friday, dec. 6 | STEM NIGHT | 6 - 7:30 pm

The PTA is hosting a Long Branch STEM Night.

When: Friday, Dec. 6 - 6 - 7:30 p.m.

Where: School Gym + Cafeteria. 

Enjoy a night of interactive stations with your child. This event will engage families together in fun STEM experiences. All children MUST be accompanied by an adult.

 

All attendees can enjoy pizza as part of the event.  

 

We need volunteers to help with pizza during the event. Please sign up here if you can help. 


holiday giving opportunities | By Friday, Dec. 13

We have a few giving opportunities for you this holiday season: 
  1. LB Families in Need: Each year, our school community comes together to support our most vulnerable families during the holiday season. Your support for these efforts are needed this year more than ever! Please consider donating through this link by Dec. 13. 
  2. Non-classroom teachers and staff: Please consider contributing to a holiday fund for our crossing guard, cafeteria staff, custodians, administrative assistants, librarians, art teachers, literacy/math coaches, physical education teachers, etc. The funds will be split to provide gift cards to approximately 80 non-classroom staff members. Please make donations by Dec. 13 so we have time to purchase gift cards. *Note: room parents will be in touch about collecting for classroom teachers and Kindergarten aides.
  3. Extended Day: A separate email will be sent to families with students in extended day to offer the opportunity to give to the Extended Day employees.

saturday, february 22 | auction | 6 - 9:30 pm

Join us for an adults-only evening with silent auction items. Look for more details and volunteer opportunities in the future. TBD | family Arts & Crafts night | 6 - 7:30 pm

 

Join us for an evening of family arts and crafts. We will have opportunities for community service projects as well as fun projects to bring home. Let us take care of supplies and clean up while your family enjoys time to connect and unwind!

 

Students must be accompanied by an adult. While you don't have to RSVP to attend, it would greatly help us better plan for the event if you could let us know if you and your family are planning to come. RSVP details provided later.


FRIDAY, March 14 | TEACHER/STAFF LUNCHEON

The PTA is providing lunch for our teachers/staff on parent-teacher conference day. If you want to serve on the staff appreciation committee to help with this and other appreciation events for our amazing staff, email president@lbpta.org


april TBD | International Night

Mark your calendars for a fun-filled tour around the world!

 

This is a great opportunity for children to showcase their heritage, or that of a country of interest to them.

 

How to participate:

  • Sign up using a link provided to let us know which country you will be representing.
  • Prepare a table display like the examples given below. You can add a trifold poster, a flag, and items from the country you are representing. You can also prepare a small craft for the children to participate in.
  • There will also be an opportunity to sample international cuisine.
  • If you would like to bring food for the tasting potluck, please use a link provided to let us know.
  • Finally, children are welcome to prepare a short cultural performance (under 10 minutes).

  


may 5-9 | STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK

Long Branch PTA will be celebrating teacher/staff appreciation week the first week of May. The PTA will provide most of the food using funds raised by our generous parent community.  If you want to serve on the staff appreciation committee to help with this and other appreciation events for our amazing staff, email president@lbpta.org


Sun. May 18 | SPRING FLING | 2-4 PM

 

Bring your whole family to Long Branch for moon bounces, ice cream truck, face painting, DJ and more fun! We need help to make this event possible. We will need lots of help. Sign up posted later.


 june TBD | Book swap | during school hours

Book Swap! Mark your calendars!  The PTA will be hosting a Book Swap for students, teachers, and stuff on Monday, June 10. If you have any books (pre-K to adult) to donate for the event, please drop them off at the Long Branch office (preferable!) NO EARLIER THAN June 3 (the week before the Book Swap). There are storage issues if books are dropped off earlier than June 3. Please only donate new or gently used books that are suitable for our event (no religious books please). If you are interested in volunteering leading up to or at the event, please sign up here

 


JUNE TBD | end of year grade level parties | DURING SCHOOL HOURS

The PTA provides funding for grade level end of school year celebrations in June. These are during the school hours. Room parents and teachers will provide more details including volunteer opportunities closer to the events.

RISING KINDERGARTEN PLAYDATES

Do you have a child entering kindergarten at Long Branch this fall? If so, please join us for summer playdates! 

 
We are hosting rising Kindergarten playdates over the summer at Long Branch (33 N Fillmore St) and Lyon Park (414 N Fillmore St). Please join us if you have a rising Kindergartener and pass along to other rising Long Branch Kindergarten families.
 
No need to RSVP -- just come when you can. All playdates last about an hour or so.

Friday, SEpt. 6 | 6 - 8 p.m. | Ice Cream Playdate

Join us for a playdate on the Long Branch playground/blacktop. Bring a picnic and stay to play.

Ice cream provided by the PTA. 

 


Join us this fall as we bring Boys Gotta Run back to Long Branch!  Led by LB parents and local Pacers Running stores owners Julie Culley and Chris Farley, we'll meet weekly on Wednesday's beginning September 25th to run and learn!  The program is 8 weeks long and concludes with our goal of completing a 5K.  Open to students in 3-5 grade. Whether you are an experienced turkey trotter or this is your first time formally trying a run program, all are welcome!

Our mission is simple:
To encourage boys to become self-aware, demonstrate good sportsmanship and integrity, build self-esteem, engage in school, cope with adversity, adapt to unexpected changes, while digging deep to reach that which once seemed impossible.

Our fall fundraiser is designed to be painless for you! Simply donate onlineFunding will support the PTA activities including providing stipends for our teachers for out-of-pocket school supplies, funding field trips for all grades, free community building events like Science/STEM night and more. NOvember 11 - 15 | book fair

R.E.A.D. will be hosting the book fair for Long Branch. Check this link for more details and volunteer opportunities. 

 

Classes will visit on Tuesday and Wednesday to create wish lists. Shopping will occur on Thursday and Friday during the school day (book fair closes at 11 a.m. on Friday). 

 

Family Night is Wednesday, Nov. 13 from 5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Volunteers STILL needed so sign up if you can help. 


monday, nov. 18 | skills for success class | 6-7 pm

Executive Functions are the cognitive skills needed for academic performance, social skills, and life skills. Commonly, these are the skills utilized to organize, plan, initiate, manage emotion, shift /maintain focus and use working memory. They govern the HOW you do what you DECIDE to do. 

This presentation will briefly explain how Executive Function skills are developed and will include tips, tools, and strategies parents can use to promote optimal success in all aspects of life. Followed by Q and A. Free class sponsored by the PTA.
